Karora Express Bronzing Mousse

A few weeks back Karora sent me some of their products to try. I first heard about Karora tan at my first blogger event last year. An Irish company that started off driving around Ireland and now has an office in America.

I am lucky enough to tan during the summer and then I am the lovely pale of white during the winter that I can’t deal with and this is when the tan comes out!
I tried the Karora Express Bronze Mousse a few times before doing this review. The mousse is a watery texture with a hint of purple in it. It is very easy to apply as the mousse is a light texture. The purple tint lets you know you have applied it to an area. Don’t worry it doesn’t stay purple! Nobody wants to go around looking like Violet from Charlie and the chocolate factory 😅.

How did I get on?

The first time I tried the tan I left it on for 3 hours. The instructions on the packet say 1 hour for a light glow, 2 hours a deeper colour, and 3 hours a rich dark brown. The colour was good, but not  dark enough for me. So I did what I always do with 3 hour tans, left it on overnight and the colour was gorgeous.

Any dark tan, disasters?
Now I am not going to lie my hands were a disaster, but that was my own fault. My hands are very dry from the cold weather so I should have done a lot more prep! Any other time I used this tan my hands were fine. One thing I definitely love about this tan is I didn’t get the extra dark elbows.

So how did the tan wash off?

The tan came off very naturally. I had no build up of dirty looking tan anywhere, I didn’t have to scrub it off. It just seemed to get lighter everytime I showered.

Will I use the tan again?

I will definitely use this tan again. It also smells quit sweet 😀

Hope you enjoyed the review.

I was kindly sent this product to try and here is a review for everybody to read. So I love the idea behind the NKD Skin preshower tan you apply it 10 minutes before your shower and the tan develops over the next 4-8 hours. I am so lazy with tan so I was very excited to try this, am I the only person who hates putting tan on? I always plan on doing it the night before I am going somewhere and then throw it instant on the next day instead.

I put it on 10 minutes before my shower and did I have a tan that night? I actually did 😍  It is a gradual build tan so you will need to put it on a few times depending on how dark of a tan you want.
Not bad for one application

My only negative against the product is that you can get the fake tan smell after your shower. It is not very strong but I could definitely smell it off my skin but I had a shower later that evening quickly before I went out and the smell was gone. I will keep using this product as the colour is good and it is so easy to use.

The gel itself has a creamy colour to it so you can see where you applied it and I had no marks anywhere that I missed.

Here is a link to purchase and it retails for about £13.95, sorry I can’t find the euro price.

Hope you enjoyed that review 😊

So last month I was lucky enough to get invited to the Cocoa Brown, Passion Persistence Pink event in the Shelbourne hotel (click here for more).

Cocoa Brown Instant Gel Tan

At the event the Marissa Carter released two new products, instant gel tan in matte and shimmer. I have been trying them out and they are great.

Here is the shimmer gel just on my mitt before applying.

Cocoa Brown Shimmer Instant Tan

I love the shimmer and it is great on legs as it gives a lovely glow. It goes on really easy and best of all you don’t get the dreaded water splash marks. It doesn’t come in the shower until you use soap.

The matte I love for my arms to be honest I am not huge into shimmer tans on my arms. I like the glow on my legs, maybe because I am quite dark haired I feel the shimmer shows the hair more. This is not specific to Cocoa Brown tan, I feel the same about all shimmer tans. The Cocoa Brown shimmer wasn’t too bad on my arms as the shimmer and tan blends to perfection so you don’t have clumps of tan.

image

Not a great picture but you can see a bit of a tan.

I know I probably sound like a Cocoa Brown advertisement but I genuinely love the products since I first started using the tan about a year ago (I was a late customer). I still love the 1 hour tan as it lasts and I don’t have to worry about it, but there are also a lot of times I am really lazy and instant tans are my best friend!

Today Cocoa Brown Tan held a brilliant event for the launch of their two new products!! The event was held in the beautiful Shelbourne hotel in Dublin, and the luxury of the location continued on for the whole event.

The room was gorgeous with pink flower centre pieces on all of tables to keep in with the Cocoa Brown colour. We also had afternoon tea which included a selection of sandwiches, tea and gorgeous pink cupcakes 🙂

Marissa Carter should definitely consider doing girly beauty day outs, she was brilliant up on stage and you couldn’t but love her and enjoy the day! The day started with Tara Farrell Makeup, AJ Makeup and Rosie Connolly doing ombre lips with Flormar products on 3 models. Marissa Carter then brought her sister up and showed us how to do tontouring/tantouring.

Just before the break for afternoon tea, Marissa announced the two new products!!So the two products are both instant tans. There is two different types one is matte and the second is a shimmer.  They will both be available to purchase in approximately two weeks and are available to pre-order on Cloud 10 Beauty (click here for shimmer and matte) They are a great price at 6.99 which is a very competitive price and around the same price mark as all the other Cocoa Brown products.

image

After the afternoon tea Julia Carta the make-up artist from the X factor (and used to do Britney Spears makeup) came on and did Marissa’s makeup. Seriously click here and look at her website and the people and movies she has done makeup and hair for!! She is also gorgeous and I was in love with her leather trousers (does that sound weird??). She used a number of different brands and gave us so much advice.

image

Finally here is a picture of the goody bag or should I say swag bag, we got seriously spoilt!

  • Hask shampoo and conditioner.
  • A sample of ren moisturiser from Cloud 10 beauty and a discount code.
  • A 10euro voucher for Cara pharmacy.
  • A SoSu nail varnish, I haven’t tried before so can’t wait.
  • Co Lab dry shampoo
  • The new Cocoa Brown products including the double sided mitt!!
  • Revo lip balm
  • Flormar lipstick and lipliner, these were actually hidden under our chairs 🙂
  • There was also a load of 25euro Penneys vouchers given away at the event for asking questions and some were hidden under peoples plates.

image

I want to thank Marissa Carter and the whole Cocoa Brown tan for inviting me to this event.  Anybody who reads my blog already knows that I am a lover of the brand.  The tan is affordable, does not smell and best of all looks natural.  A quote from my boyfriend who had to tan my back Sunday morning, “it doesn’t stink and there is no streaks!”

I still can’t believe I got to attend the event and use the products before they are released 😀

Here is what I wore to the event:

When I use the new products I will stick up a review of them 🙂

Happy Sunday everybody!!

I love the weekend too much (apologies to anybody who works weekends) so here is a few outfits I wore to different things during the month of August.

So first up we went to Belfast for the weekend at the start of the month, I have a blog post here of what we got up to 🙂

I love this outfit:

image

image

Here are the details:
Waistcoat: New Look, new stock and cost €29.99.
Jeans: New Look and are a bargain for only €17.99
Top: River Island, I got this last year so don’t think they do this style anymore but probably have something similiar in store.
Shoes: New Look, got these on sale last month for only €9!! Serious bargain and so comfortable!!
Bag: Stradivarius, love this clutch! I got it in Madrid last year.

My next outfit is from the Dublin Horse Show, it was a nice sunny day which makes a huge difference in what you can wear!

image

The state of me ha ha!!

Outfit details:

Top: New Look, this was also on sale and only €5! (it is €7.50 online!!)
Jeans: River Island, I bought these last year and they are really soft and comfortable.
Shoes: Penneys, obsessed with these!! They are in every year in different colours, I have turquoise, black and nude and wear them as much as possible!! I have a blog post up from when I bought them here.

My final outfit is from last weekend when I was out saying goodbye to a friend who is leaving me to go travelling 😦

image

Outfit details:
Top: Pull and Bear, new season and only €19.99, it is really nice and is slit at the back.  I actually bought a bralet in Penneys to wear with this so you could see a lace band instead of the back of a bra in the slit.
Culottes: Pull and Bear, also new season and €25.99.
Shoes: New Look as above, probably not the best shoes as they have a strap across them for this outfit but I wanted to be comfortable and last the night in heels…Yes I am getting old!!

My tan in the pictures apart from the Dublin Horse Show is Cocoa Brown 1 hour tan in dark.  Normally I am lucky enough that during the summer I do not have to wear fake tan, but this year the weather has not been the best 😦 Here is a picture from 2013 when we had an amazing summer and I had no fake tan on!! (ha ha and no we didn’t have a cake for my dogs birthday, this was for my sisters 30th which was also the same time as the dogs 3rd birthday!! I miss my long hair 😦 )

Beauty, Beautyreview, Bloggerevent, Boots, Botanics, Cleanser, CocoaBrown, Daycream, faketan, ITWBN, MagnitoneLucid, Moisturiser, No7, Review, Skincare, Tan

I keep planning on doing a favourite beauty items every month and next thing you know it is the end of the following month.

So my first favourite is from Cocoa Brown Tan, I have the 1 Hour Tan Mousse in Dark, Normal and Lovely Legs.

image

I used the Lovely Legs tan a few weeks ago as a very last minute tanning decision and stuck it on my arms, yeah I know it is meant to be for legs but sure it was an extra challenge for it 🙂  When I sprayed the tan on first I was like oh god it is orange, but once you rub it in it comes out really nice and it is very easy to blend. Here is a picture of the tan on one arm, I love a bit of colour! (Ignore my hairy arms)

image

I used the 1 Hour Tan Mousse in Dark for a wedding recently, I had the normal version of this before and just didn’t get the colour I wanted from one go.  I decided to give the dark a chance and I love it, I left it on overnight and it came out really well!!  The two things I love about this tan is that it doesn’t have any smell and the best thing, it looks really natural!!  Also as it is a mousse it is so easy to put on, goodbye streaks!!

My next favourite is the Magnitone Lucid Cleansing & Exfoliation Brush, it is so good!  I am using it with my own Clarins cleanser and I use it about two to three times a week. There are two settings on it, I use the lighter setting so it is a bit more gentle on my skin. It also gives a warning every 20seconds to move to a different section of your face and turns off after one minute. My favourite thing about it is that you can use it in the shower!! This is so handy so I can forget worrying about getting cleanser in my hair.

image

Like everybody seems to be blogging about the Botanics range from Boots. I have been using the micellar water for about 6months now and I love it,it literally melts away your makeup. I previously posted about this here. The product this month that I tried is the Radiance Balm, it is the only one I have ever used so I can’t compare it to the other brands.
image

It gives your skin a subtle glow and this comes through your foundation. I have heard of other bloggers mixing it with your foundation. I found my foundation went on a lot better and smoother, and even used less foundation then normal. It is definitely worth a purchase and Boots have it on offer a lot. Just to warn you it can be pretty hard to find in store though, it is always out of stock!!

I got a new face cream at the Into the West Blogger Network event in May from Boots, the No7 Early Defence Cream.
image

It is a light cream and normally I don’t like light creams because I don’t feel like they don’t absorb as good as the thicker creams. This cream absorbs really well and my skin does feel amazing after using it, I am using it about a month now and combined with the Magnitone Lucid my skin feels great as they both work great together.  One thing that is putting me slightly off buying this cream again is that I have very sensitive eyes and I feel that the scent is making them water a lot (but this could also be linked to hayfever).  However I definitely will be looking into the No7 range from Boots and see if there is other creams that might be more suitable for me.

That is a few of my favourite products that I have used over the past month and wanted to share with everybody!

Recently I went to the Ultimate Girls Day Out in the Green Isle Hotel at Newlands Cross. The event was held by a fellow blogger Lipstick, Glitter and Me so I went along to see what it was about. Tickets were pretty reasonable for this sort of event at only €15 euro or €20 at the door, this also included a goodie bag!

The event had a number of stalls and a chocolate fountain which I failed to stay away from 😧 There was also a fashion show and spot prizes as well as a raffle.

One of my favourite stands was the Social Bee, you can order an afternoon tea picnic basket! This is a great option for a hen party or a girls day out or even a romantic date. I loved this and thought it was something a little bit different. You should definitely check it out!
image

image

Stella and dot also had a stand here and I got to see their jewellery. I love jewellery as you can tell from some of my haul posts and saw a few nice pieces at the event.
image

I am like a magpie and get distracted and attracted by anything sparkly, how amazing are these candles and glasses.

image

It was a nice way to spend a Sunday, there was some great stalls, makeup and tan demonstrations and a fashion show.
